Master patterns & scanning · 3D scanning

3D scanning for concrete tooling and restoration.

Scanning existing features, heritage details and reference pieces to build accurate patterns — especially where nothing may touch the original.

Overview

3D scanning, in plain terms.

Non-contact scanning of a fragile stone original

Scanning captures geometry without contact. It's the right route when the original is fragile, inaccessible, or needs scaling.

The scan becomes a model we can repair, mirror, scale and machine.

What sets it apart

Four things that define this route.

01

No contact

Nothing touches the original surface.

02

Scale and mirror

Handed pieces and different sizes from one scan.

03

Repair digitally

Loss made good on the model.

04

Record

A digital archive of the feature.

How we build it

From pattern to released tool.

We scan on site or on the bench, process the data, and prepare a model for machining.

Fine surface texture is often better captured by a silicone squeeze; we combine methods where helpful.

The honest bit

What to know before you commit.

Scanning captures shape very well but can soften the finest surface texture. We'll advise where a squeeze is better.

Each job follows the same route, whether it is one keystone or a full run of wall panels.

FAQs

Questions we hear about this.

Can you scan on scaffold?

Yes, subject to access and weather.

Do we get the scan data?

We can supply it as part of the job.

Get in touch

Send us a photograph of the panel or the elevation.

One photograph tells us what surface you're chasing, and one line about the mix tells us what silicone or polyurethane will survive it.

Real people, a real workshop

You deal with the people who make it.

No call centre and no middlemen. When you contact TCI Construction, you speak to the team who design, build and check your mould.
